Baby’s first dippy egg and soldiers
A traditional and nutritious early meal. The dippy egg can be fed on a spoon or babies can dip the soldiers themselves. The egg provides high quality protein, vitamins and minerals, complemented by carbohydrate in the toast soldiers. Suitable from six months.
Ingredients
- 1 British Lion egg
- 1 slice of white bread
- A little unsalted butter
Method
- Bring a pan of water to the boil and lower in the egg. Simmer for 6 minutes then drain, rinse under cold water and leave to cool a little.
- Meanwhile toast a slice of bread and spread with a little butter and cut into soldiers that will fit into your baby’s fist with a little sticking out of the top (it is fine to leave the crusts on).
- Place the egg in an egg cup and remove the top of the egg. Serve with a few toast soldiers, which can be dipped into the egg yolk, with the rest of the egg eaten by spoon.
