KS1 eggs in a mug

Eggs in a mug lesson pack image

Children make a quick scrambled egg (with optional cheese and vegetables) cooked in a microwave-safe mug. They crack an egg into the mug, check for shell, add a splash of milk, mix with a fork, sprinkle on a little grated cheese and add cherry tomatoes if they like, then hand the mug to an adult to microwave. As well as fine motor skills like cracking and stirring, the activity introduces cause and effect, with children predicting and observing how the egg changes as it cooks. All microwaving is done by an adult. The pack includes child recipe cards, a home-cooking guide and a teacher guide scaled for a class of 30 (groups of 5), using British Lion eggs.
