Eggs are eggscellent
This KS2 English lesson develops descriptive writing skills using eggs as the subject. Pupils warm up with an "odd one out" activity, then build a bank of adjectives, similes and metaphors to describe eggs in vivid detail. After reading an information text and answering comprehension questions, they choose between two writing tasks: a non-fiction "top 5 egg facts" page using headings, bullet points and descriptive language, or a creative diary entry imagining they are an egg about to hatch. The lesson ends with children sharing their most eggscellent writing.
