KS2 Healthy eating eggsperts lesson
This KS2 health lesson explores nutrition and the role of eggs within a balanced diet. Pupils learn about the main nutrient groups (protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals) and what each does for the body, and consider why too much saturated fat should only be eaten occasionally. After sorting food cards into nutrient groups, children discover that eggs appear in three of the four groups, making them a great source of nutrients, and learn the specific "superpowers" of eggs (protein for muscles, B12 and iron for energy and concentration, vitamin D for bones). They finish by designing a balanced meal that includes eggs.
