Agriculture Bill statement

In response to MPs rejecting amendments to the Agriculture Bill, designed to protect food standards post-Brexit, British Egg Industry Council Chief Executive, Mark Williams, said: "We are of course disappointed that the amendment to protect food standards post-Brexit has been rejected but that is certainly not the end of the matter, and it won’t stop us lobbying. It is absolutely vital that the Government listens to the recommendations of the Trade and Agriculture Commission in due course, and does not allow reduced or tariff free access to eggs and egg products that have been produced in countries with lower standards of animal welfare than the UK and EU."
