Google "cracking up" over new emoji?

11/06/2018

British Lion eggs has questioned whether Google is “cracking up” following a news story about the tech giant removing an egg from their salad emoji to avoid offending vegans.

A British Lion spokesperson said: "Are the people at Google cracking up? We completely understand that vegans choose not to eat eggs, but in the UK egg sales are up by almost 5 per cent and many people love them, so it seems a shame for the majority to be missing out due to concern for offending one group."

"Eggs are the perfect salad accompaniment for non-vegans – full of protein, vitamins and minerals, as well as being delicious."

The quotes featured widely in the national media, with telegraph.co.uk, The Times, times.co.uk, Daily Mail and Yahoo all featuring the story.
