National media report on calls for retailers to back British ingredients

Shoppers will fork out more for food made from British ingredients according to stories from The Sun, Daily Mirror, Daily Express, Metro, Daily Star and The Herald highlighting public demand for the use of British eggs in British food.

The stories, based on consumer research commissioned by British Lion egg processors, show that more than half of shoppers would pay 19% more for food made with British ingredients and seven in 10 believe there is no need to import food that can be produced on home soil.

With more than 30,000 shoppers already signing the change.org petition calling on retailers to commit to British eggs for food produced in Britain, the media coverage and depth of consumer feeling piles further pressure on the retailers to reconsider their sourcing policies.
