Pancake day goes global

British Lion eggs are banning boring pancakes on Shrove Tuesday with the creation of six delicious recipes inspired by traditional pancakes from around the world. The recipes span the globe, from Ireland to Israel, ideal for anyone who wants to serve something with an international flavour.

Shrove Tuesday has been celebrated for hundreds of years and was the traditional Christian feast before the start of Lent - the 40 days leading up to Easter. While pancakes are enjoyed across the UK every year, those wishing to swap the same old lemon and sugar for something a little more exotic should try Normandy apple pancakes or tiganites served with Greek yoghurt. If you would prefer your pancakes a little more hearty, Italian crespelle are a tasty twist on spinach and ricotta cannelloni.

For perfect pancakes make sure you use eggs bearing the British Lion mark, which guarantees that they have been produced to the highest standards of food safety.  All Lion Quality eggs come from British hens vaccinated against salmonella, are fully traceable and have a ‘best before’ date on the shell as a guarantee of freshness.
