Ready, steady, flip!

It’s predicted that an extra 22 million eggs will be consumed in the UK on Shrove Tuesday (21 February 2012) to make 44 million pancakes - yet,  research* shows that 75 per cent of people don’t even know the ingredients needed for the basic pancake mix.

To avoid a flop this Pancake Day, British Lion eggs have launched the ultimate pancake cooking guide, with step-by-step instructions, a dozen fun facts and recipe inspirations.

The step-by-step guide provides useful tips on how to avoid common cooking disasters, while new recipe ideas ensure there is a pancake to suit everyone.

A survey by British Lion eggs found that over 30 per cent of people suffer from their pancake sticking and 13 per cent have problems with pancakes falling on the floor or sticking to the ceiling when they are tossed.

And it’s not just the cooking that people struggle with - few people even know what ingredients they need for the mixture before they start. Only a quarter could name all three essential ingredients – plain flour, eggs and milk.

It’s important to remember to look for eggs bearing the British Lion mark, which guarantees that they have been produced to the highest standards of food safety. All Lion Quality eggs come from British hens vaccinated against salmonella, are fully traceable and have a ‘best before’ date on the shell as a guarantee of freshness.
