Slimmers get the Eggs Factor

Thousands of slimmers will be egged on to cook up their best efforts this Easter as British Lion eggs launches a new competition to find the UK’s top slimming egg recipe.

The competition has been developed in conjunction with Slimming World, the UK’s leading slimming organisation, to find egg recipes ideal for people on a diet.

High in good quality protein and relatively low in fat, eggs are considered ‘syn-free’ by Slimming World, meaning its 300,000 members can enjoy as many as they like.

The competition is part of British Lion eggs’ health-focused £1m marketing programme for 2010.

Andrew Parker, Chairman of the British Egg Industry Council, said: “Slimmers are key consumers of eggs, so not only are we looking forward to seeing the quality of their recipes, but we are expecting the competition to help drive sales by reminding consumers of the health benefits of eggs, just in time for Easter.”

Contestants will be challenged to enter their eggy creations via their local Slimming World clubs or online until 22 March, for a chance to win shopping vouchers worth £500. The five best recipes will be shortlisted on the Slimming World website where members can vote for their favourite from Easter Monday.
