5-7 Geography & Citizenship
Egg explorers
A geography and citizenship lesson that takes children on a tour of how eggs are eaten around the world. Pupils compare egg dishes from different countries (French omelette, Indian egg curry, North African shakshuka, Mexican huevos rancheros, Japanese tamago sushi and the British scotch egg) and use a world map to place where each comes from. Alongside fun facts about tea eggs, ostrich eggs and more, the lesson celebrates cultural diversity through food, encouraging children to respect different traditions while recognising that choosing British eggs supports local farmers.
